I’ve always been fascinated by the story of Lorraine Massey, the ghost of Room 237, who took her own life in the bathtub after a broken heart. Much like Lloyd, the mysterious bartender at the Overlook, or Delbert Grady, her ghost doesn’t simply haunt the hotel — she can physically interact with the living. I’ve always been particularly fascinated by her encounter with Jack Torrance in the bathtub scene. For this poster, I didn’t want to simply recreate that moment. I wanted to visually explore the Overlook’s growing hold on Jack. I imagined one hand taking control of his mind, gripping his head like a spider. Another literally forces his eye open. Together, they become a physical manifestation of the Overlook itself — reaching into Jack’s mind, revealing what was already buried deep inside him, and slowly pushing him toward madness. I wanted to build the composition like a trap closing around his face, with Jack at the center, imprisoned by those hands… and perhaps, most of all, by himself.
